At Alta Gallery in Wellington Rene has been able to showcase his latest works in an exhibition called Evolving Transmutations. In these new works we see Rene exploring spatial properties in an ever-changing three dimensional fashion. Metaphysical themes are alluded to through titles like ,,Dynamism' and ,,Linear' bringing to mind sentiments of early geometric abstraction. These relief sculptures further transform modernist aesthetic principles into the 20th century. The relative freedom of Rene,s art making has led him to experiment with intriguing ever changing juxtapositions of materials. The intimate space at Alta gallery which is run by gallery owner Jason Secto lends itself beautifully for the works on display.
